Saganoshima Island

Saganoshima Island is a gourd shaped island with an area of about 3.2 square kilometers about 4 kilometers off the northwest coast of Fukue Island. The island is made up of two connected volcanoes, Mt. Odake in the north and Mt. Medake in the south. Nearly the entire island is designated as part of Saikai National Park. On the west side is the Nagasaki Prefecture Natural Treasure, Saganoshima Island Volcano Sea Cliff, where near the volcanic crater a fault has been exposed by the intense waves of the East China Sea. There are several roads around the area where guests can cycle or walk while enjoying the scenery.
