Mt. Bandake
【 Shinkamigoto | Saikai National Park 】
Mt. Bandake (height: 443m) in the northern part of Nakadori Island is the tallest mountain in Shinkamigoto. In the Edo period, by order of the shogunate, the Goto clan constructed a guard house known as the Noroshi-dai (“place for signal fires”) to keep track of the passage of foreign ships. It was reconstructed as a park with a viewing platform. From there guests can see the blue sea, Kamigoto islands, and both the sunrise and the sunset. Bandake Hot Spring at the foot of the mountain is perfect for relaxing after a day of traveling.
