Ikenohara Park is only a few minutes’ drive from Unzen, the hot spring town in Shimabara. Large groups of Kyushu Azeleas can be seen in the mountains of Unzen during spring and Ikenohara park is no exeption. This area has been designated as a natural treasure of the country. Also, from here you can enjoy hiking in Nita Pass, Mt. Myokendake, Mt. Kunimidake, and Mt. Fugendake.
