Mt. Shiratake
【 Tsushima | Iki Tsushima Quasi-National Park 】
The double peaks of Mt. Shiratake (height: 519m) made of quartz porphyry are symbolic of Tsushima. The surrounding primeval forest composed of continental as well as Japanese plants has been designated as a natural monument of the country. The round-trip from the trailhead to the summit takes 3 to 4 hours. There are steep slopes along the way but there is an excellent view from the summit, which features not only the mountains of Aso bay and Shiratake mountains but if the weather is good also mountain ranges in Korea.
