Mt. Sanno

Mt. Sanno, in the southwestern part of Nakadori Island, is the second highest mountain (height: 439m) in Shinkamigoto Town. It is believed that between the 7th and 9th centuries, rituals of the guardian god Sanno Gongen of Hiezan Enryakuji temple were performed here. The shrine Ichinomiya is in Arakawa village at the foot of the mountain, Ninomiya is near the eighth stage, and Sannomiya is at the summit. There is a 360-degree panoramic view of the Goto Islands and the sea from the back of Sannomiya. It takes 30 minutes by car from Narao port to the foot of the mountain, and reaching the summit is 20 minutes on foot.
