Nita Pass
【 Unzen | Unzen Amakusa National Park 】
Nita Pass is one of the most famous sightseeing spots in Unzen National Park. An 8.2 km road circles through the pass and is about 20 minutes by car from the hot springs area. From the first observation area, there is a view of nearby Mt. Myokendake and Mt. Fugendake, the Ariake Sea below, and far into the distance is Mt. Aso. From the second observation area guests can enjoy a view of Mt. Heisei Shinzan. There is also ropeway which grants beautiful views that change with the seasons. Guests can see the Kyushu Azelea in spring, the fresh green foliage of early summer, the changing leaves in the fall, and freezing fog in winter.
