Tarukidaichi
【 Shimabara ｜ Unzen Amakusa National Park 】
Most of Tarukidaichi’s plants were burnt away by the pyroclastic flow during the Mt. Fugendake Heisei eruption. Since the disaster, seedlings have been actively planted and the area is slowly recovering. At the Heisei Shinzan Nature Center guests can learn about the mechanisms of volcanic activity and the local change of vegetation. Also, Mt. Heisei Shinzan can be seen very closely from the viewing platform.
