Yakeyama
【 Shimabara ｜ Unzen Amakusa National Park 】
From Mt. Yakeyama there are excellent views of Mt. Mayuyama, Mt. Unzendake, and the Ariake Sea. From there guests can also see shinyaki yougan (“fresh lava”), that was produced just before the 1792 Unzen Earthquake and Tsunami. The vegetation has been covered by the lava but if you walk past it on the path there are views of the sheer cliffs.
