Mt. Jyoyama
【 Tsushima | Iki Tsushima Quasi-National Park 】
Mt. Joyama (height: 276m) is a rock mass protruding out of Aso Bay that reaches the center of Tsushima. It is said that about 1,300 years ago, the mountain castle (Kaneda castle) was built by guards to defend against invasion from the continent. On the hillside there are 2m to 5m high walls running for over 5 kilometers. Joyama was also used as a fortress during the Russo-Japanese War and is a place where you can experience the simultaneously ancient and modern “Tsushima: the front line of national defense”. The Kaneda Castle Ruins are a nationally designated special historical site.
